It was mid-October and the entire week leading up to Alicia and Tom’s wedding there was the threat of a major hurricane hitting over the weekend. But that didn’t phase us at all. In fact, this couple’s engagement session was taken in the rain and in Alicia’s own words, “bring it on, (hurricane) Joaquin, my photographer kicks butt in the rain!” Quite the vote of confidence, and one that Rachel, as their photographer, was eager to live up to.
Alicia and Tom got married on Tom’s 30th birthday. He claims it’s so he will remember their anniversary, but I think these two lovebirds just couldn’t wait any longer to get married. After being together for the better part of a decade, they decided it was high time they started their happily ever after.
Alicia got ready in one of the busiest hotel rooms we’ve been in. In a very good way. Friends and family and little ones all hustling about as they got ready to play their parts in the wedding. Upstairs, Tom was getting ready with his guys and realized that he needed help with his hair. Help that only his hair stylist fiancé could give. So, blindfolded, he came into the room and Alicia put the finishing touches on his coif.
Their first look at Woodcrest Country Club was tender and so sweet and their ceremony even more so. They had each prepared their own vows and as Alicia made her promises to and told Tom how much he meant to her, he brushed away more than one tear (as did I).
During the reception, Alicia gathered everyone together and brought out a special Flyers cake to celebrate Tom’s birthday. After a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday, it was sadly time for us to leave this fabulous couple.
