Katie and Dan were a delightful couple that we had the honor of photographing on a stunning day in June, bright sunshine and low(ish) temperatures. Not bad for Philadelphia in the summer.
We met Katie and Dan at the Sheraton Society Hill, right near the waterfront. From the get go, there were so many lovely little details and moments. Katie’s mother had sadly passed away when she was a young girl, but Dan surprised her with a necklace into which her mothers diamond had been set. Gentlemen, take note, that is how you surprise your fiancée on her wedding day. The gorgeous final product was simple and stunning! Katie proudly wore it as she said her “I do’s”.
They got married at St. Francis Xavier church, right off the Ben Franklin Parkway. It’s a beautiful, regal looking church, with marble pillars, a great big pipe organ, and wonderful stained glass windows. After walking down the aisle, Katie’s father handed her off to her awaiting groom and shared a tender last hug before her marriage.
Katie and Dan each had a beautiful, supportive and sweet family standing beside them on their wedding day. Almost everyone was a member of the bridal party which speaks volumes about their bond as family. They also were very aware of and grateful for the friends who had supported them, both individually and as a couple. Then we raced around the city to some of the places Katie and Dan loved while they were dating, leading up to the Philadelphia Art Museum for some bridal party portraits. These iconic stairs offer a timeless piece of the city to every couple who stops by. We also journeyed to Washington Square to take advantage of the beautiful brick, trees and fountain.
The Sheraton Society Hill has a big beautiful ballroom, perfect for housing a large dance floor for people to tear up. And tear it up they did. Jamming to the sweet tunes of the rocking band, everyone was on the dance floor at one point. Or so it felt to us. Including the cutest little ring bearer showing off his moves!
