Saturday was the long awaited wedding of Amy and Jeff. You might remember this amazing couple from their engagement session and their feature on Philly in Love! Well, they finally made it to their wedding, and it was worth every second of the wait.
When we arrived at the Hotel Monaco, we were greeted by a bubbly and relaxed Amy, her makeup and hair already done and looking positively radiant! Her stunning Hayley Paige gown was hung with great care, and both, that’s right, both of her wedding shoes were there for us to photograph. We knew Amy’s love of style and fashion would come through in her wedding, and we were right! Her bridesmaids were lovely in their beautiful beaded, art deco gowns. When a letter arrived from Jeff, we were startled to see that it was only three sentences long. However, it became clear that the depth of emotion Jeff felt made it hard to write anything further and those three sentences meant more to Amy than anything Shakespeare could have written.
Jeff, meanwhile was enjoying his afternoon with his guys at his house. They goofed off, and had fun as they got ready. His best man, the catalyst for his relationship with Amy, was a constant support and kept him steady until it was time for the first look.
Amy told us that Jeff thought her dress was sleek and form fitting, that he would have no clue what it actually was like. When he turned to see her walking towards him in the park, his eyes spilled over with tears. He couldn’t control himself. She was everything he’d always wanted and more and his love for her overflowed.
Their unplugged ceremony at the Chapel of the Four Chaplains was a beautiful fusion of a traditional Catholic wedding mass, with some Jewish elements. Being determined not to cry as Amy walked down the aisle, Jeff’s face was the picture of restraint, but you knew what was just below the surface. Jeff’s family is Jewish so they honored his heritage by allowing his parents to give a blessing over the couple and when they were pronounced man and wife, Jeff stomped the glass as well.
After more couple portraits, it was time for their amazing party at the Ballroom at the Ben. They shared a beautiful first dance together and did a combined parent dance. During toasts, Jeff’s emotion overwhelmed him again as he heard his best friend for life toast to him and his new bride. The night wore on in a blur of dancing and laughter.
We were privileged to be there and wish you both a lifetime of deepening love and lots of laughter!
xo, Ashley
