Twelfth Night | Best Reception Moments of 2017

What better way to cap off a 12 Days of Christmas celebration than with our favorite wedding reception moments from 2017? We can’t think of one either. So here they are!

Philly vs NYC

Mummers are a Philadelphia wedding reception surprise!

We mentioned in a previous post how Dorothy surprised Zach with Mummers at their wedding reception. What we didn’t tell you is what happened next. The Mummers came in and handed Zach a microphone. Zach, bless him, is a Giants fan. (Yeah… he had to have one flaw, right?) So when he had the mic he had to proclaim his love with a “Go Giants!”. Immediately after, amid a chorus of boos, the Mummers struck up the Eagles fight song. Dorothy led the way and Zach was drowned in a raucous tide of Eagles pride. Lesson learned: don’t mess with Philly.

A Trip to New Orleans

Becky and Austin‘s wedding reception at the Brandywine Manor House started off with a bang. Austin’s mom, unbeknownst to all, had arranged with the band to play a special song and have a special dance. In honor of Austin’s family from the Big Easy, the band played a rousing round of When the Saints Go Marching In. Austin’s mom, Diane, handed out Mardi Gras umbrellas, with a special black and white one for the bride and groom. She led the entire wedding reception in a long line throughout the tent and when they hit the dance floor, they tore it up. A seriously fun way to kick off the evening!

Always Daddy’s Little Girl

Parent dances can be a difficult wedding reception tradition

Oh my, Jaimee wears her heart on her sleeve. And her dance with her uncle, who stood in for her departed father, brought Rachel and Ann to tears behind their cameras. There was a raw tension in those moments as the music played and Jaimee silently wept. It reminded us to hug the ones we love. And that those we love don’t ever really leave us. We carry them with us. Jaimee’s dance struck us to the core and definitely was one of the best moments of 2017, even though it brought tears with it.

And the Award for Best Dance Party at a Wedding Reception Goes To…

Alexandra and Joey’s wedding reception at the Hotel DuPont was absolutely incredible. It was made even better by the fact that our dear friend, Petronella, was able to photograph it with us. Petronella has been opening our eyes and broadening our horizons to the many amazing cultures that our clients hail from and are shaped by. She was right out there on the dance floor, photographing away while also tearing up the floor. We loved hearing wedding reception music that reflected our couples unique heritage and couldn’t help but dance along. There wasn’t a wallflower to be found either. Everyone was ripping that dance floor up. This incredible dancing lands Alexandra and Joey’s wedding reception into this 2017 Hall of Fame.

And the best part? Our Video team captured it all on film!

PhotoBooth Fun (Provided by Yours Truly)

If you didn’t know, we have a pretty great PhotoBooth that we would love to bring to your wedding. But, it’s you and your guests that make it AWESOME. Like Aubrey and Dylan‘s did for their October wedding reception. With an ever growing supply of props and a glitzy sequined background, our couples and their guests get to capture the fun as it happens. As the reception continues, the photos tend to get sillier and more epic. These images are available 48 hours after the wedding and help you and all your friends remember your amazing night right away.

Photo Booth is the perfect addition to a wedding reception
