Emily + Adam | Married | Union Trust Wedding

This past Sunday, we had the immense privilege of photographing Emily, the older sister of one of our 2015 brides, Victoria. We fell in love with their entire family and were over the moon when Emily reached out to book us for her wedding.

Emily and Adam have known each other forever. Adam first became involved with their family when he befriended Victoria and valiantly cared for her when she shattered her foot. Emily noticed him and they began hanging out as friends. Their relationship grew over the next 13 years from friends, to more than friends, to officially boyfriend/girlfriend, to fiancés and we were there for the day they became husband and wife.

As Emily’s father said, they knew that she would need a man that her mother referred to as “Mr. Big”. A man who could handle Emily’s obsession with Sex and the City, her incredible intellect and drive to succeed, and who could make her laugh even in the toughest of situations. Adam is that man and much more.

When we arrived at the fabulous Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, we were greeted by familiar faces and felt like family as we photographed Emily getting ready in her suite. Her beautiful trumpet gown from Jim Hjelm hung as a diamond among onyx as her bridesmaids beautiful black gowns set hers apart in stark contrast. Her smile shone bright as her makeup was touched up, earrings put on, and finally slipped into the dress she’d been waiting to wear for so long.

In the meantime, Adam and his groomsmen were downstairs a few floors having a blast. They were all in fine spirits, laughing and joking as they helped each other put on bowties. Adam was right there in the thick of it, his quick wit working overtime. They got ready quickly, so quickly in fact that we were able to grab a drink at the Loews bar.

Emily and Adam’s first look was simply joyful. No tears, just smiles, kisses, hugs and maybe a joke or two from Adam. They were finally together and from now on, wouldn’t be apart.

Their lovely traditional Jewish ceremony took place within the incredible architecture of the Union Trust. As they met with their parents under the chuppah, they solemnly pledged their lives together. They made their vows as they placed rings on the index finger of the other as it is believed to be the most direct line to the heart. Then they sealed this covenant with the rings they had to give each other and kissed. A mighty Mazel Tov went up as Adam brought his heel down on the glass to remember their heritage and the destruction of Jerusalem. Then it was time to party!

Adam’s best man, Matt, and Emily’s matron of honor, Victoria, offered beautiful and funny toasts, honoring the newlyweds and welcoming them into the family. Emily’s parents offered a special toast and in a very moving way, thanked Adam for who he is and what he means to Emily. They told him that he fulfilled all their hopes for who their daughter would marry.

The dance floor opened after parent dances, and everyone was off to the races. Union Trust was full of friends and family having an incredible time celebrating Emily and Adam. We were genuinely saddened when our time with this couple and their lovely family came to an end.

Emily and Adam, we wish you both the absolute best in your life together. We know how incredible and supportive your family is, and we were absolutely thrilled to spend your wedding day with you! Enjoy your honeymoon and we wish for many happy years together!
