Katie and Jack’s Radnor Hotel wedding was spectacular from start to finish. Despite blustery winds, the sun was bright and cheery, and everyone was in high spirits when we arrived.
Getting Ready at the Radnor Hotel
As we walked into the bridal suite for Katie’s bridal prep, we were greeted with a strangely calm and organized room. Katie was so on top of things that they were all sitting on the couch relaxing after hair and makeup had wrapped up. But first things first, we had to capture all the fabulous details she’d put so much time and thought into. So, we slipped back outside to brave the wind with her beautiful bouquet from Leigh Florist (who also left us spare blooms and greens for styling!!), her gorgeous custom invitation suite from Sincerely, Addison, and, of course, her lovely blue lace up flats. Oh, and those dazzling sparklers she’d be wearing a little later on.
Despite the wind’s best efforts, we were able to capture these things outside. We were especially enamored by the water color picture of St. Thomas of Villanova at the top of the invitation. Once we’d captured all the beauty, we whisked back upstairs to capture her dress and let her get into it.
By the light of the tinted window, Katie’s mother began to button her daughter into her gown. Before her eyes, she transformed into a stunning bride. She couldn’t keep the pride from shining in her eyes as she beheld her. Katie was absolutely beautiful. A cell phone provided the assist for getting her earrings on, and her maid of honor stooped to help lace up her beautiful flats. The Leigh Florist bouquet topped everything off. As a surprise, Jack had given her a gift – even though they’d said they wouldn’t do that. When she saw the beautiful diamond earrings, her breath caught and we think she forgave him.
Then, Katie was so ready to see Jack; we tarried no longer.
Meanwhile, before we vamoosed for the church, Jack had been having a great morning of his own. All the groomsmen were there (a rarer event than you may think), and the getting ready was going smoothly. Jack quickly buttoned his shirt and fastened his cufflinks. The bowtie was a bit more of a project, but looked dapper when completed. The moment his shoes were tied, he was ready to hit the road. Off to the church they went where they hung around outside for some fun pictures before the ladies left.

The Ceremony at St. Thomas of Villanova
Before we could enjoy the Radnor Hotel wedding reception, these two had to make everything official! Jack was waiting at the altar, a bundle of excited nerves. He had his eyes fixed down the aisle, waiting for her to appear. When Katie stepped into the church and he caught sight of her, a grin unlike any we’d seen before lit his face like a thousand watt bulb. It was utterly adorable. There mass was punctuated by readings from family, a few jokes from the priest (including when Jack dropped the prayer book and was told they had to start the ceremony over), and a tremendous first kiss as husband and wife.
We stayed at the church for family photos, including some on the stairs outside. Then the guests all went back to the hotel as we stayed with the bridal party for some photos around Villanova’s gorgeous campus. We found some lovely places that were beyond perfect for our couple to get cozy and enjoy a few minutes to themselves as we snapped away. The it was time for the Radnor Hotel wedding reception.

The Radnor Hotel Wedding Reception
Because the whole day had gone so smoothly, Katie and Jack were able to enjoy their entire cocktail hour with their friends and family. We happily captured the beautiful details of the Radnor Hotel’s wedding reception room. The centerpieces, also from Leigh Florist, were lovely in their contrasting sizes and mixed metals. The bright blooms brought vibrance to the entire room.
When it was time for the introductions, the band kicked up and in everyone streamed, one couple at a time. When the new Mr and Mrs Holtgrieve were announced, there were catcalls aplenty. They beelined for the dance floor and opened it with their first dance. There were plenty of twirls of the bride and it was so beautiful to see her dress flare out around her. Parent dances followed close behind and then Katie’s father offered a toast. He offered heartfelt thanks to all who had helped shape Katie into the person she is today, and struggled through tears at points to enumerate all the ways Katie had shaped his life. It was a tough act to follow by the maid and matron of honor, but they did a great job. Jack’s best man kept it short and sweet, opting to let everyone eat rather than embarrass Jack too much.
When everyone had enjoyed the yummy dinner, the dance floor got going and everyone tore it up. There was hardly any room to maneuver through for pictures, but we aren’t afraid of elbows or heels.

Congratulations to you both! We hope that you both are loving married life!
