Whether or not you’ve been enjoying the unseasonable warmth of the past week or not, we’re hoping that Sara & Alix’s love story can warm your heart and give you all of the feels. Their Chester Springs wedding day took place with the friends & family at the home that they have shared with their dog Jerry for the past few years. As they and their guests took over their home and their (willing) neighbors’ yards, we got to celebrate at one of the best parties of the year!
We were so lucky to have had the chance to photograph Sara as part of her brother’s wedding party two years prior, so when we got her email, we were ecstatic! We’re always thrilled to get to photograph multiple siblings over the years and see their families again and again.
We started the day with Sara at the Residence Inn Marriott and Alix at their home as they prepared for the wedding with their wedding parties. After one of the warmest greetings we’ve ever received by a bridal party, we got down to the business of photographing Sara’s details. Sara’s wedding style was fully inspired by her nature-loving, vegan aesthetic. A bouquet made of cabbages, ornamental peppers, and wrapped in fresh herbs made the entire room smell absolutely heavenly. Her BHLDN wedding dress was flowing and simple. Sara wore her grandmother’s veil. Rather than wearing fancy wedding shoes, Sara’s feet were painted in delicate henna and she spent the day barefoot, running her toes through the grass. She was a truly organic, relaxed bride.
At their home, Alix and his friends were buttoning up and relaxing with Jerry. Jerry is Sara & Alix’s fourteen year old dog and although he was bursting out of his little tuxedo, he was very excited to be the chosen ring-bearer. Wherever the action was, there was he!
First Look & Portraits at their Chester Springs wedding
Sara & Alix came together for their first look in the woods alongside a stream, where Sara would take Jerry on his morning walks every day, so of course, Jerry came along for his own first look! It was all we could do to keep him from running into the stream. We hung around in the woods for a series of stunning wedding portraits, before the wedding party & family joined us for their photos.
We truly love the traditions and rituals involved in Jewish weddings, and Sara & Alix embraced this part of their heritage. Together with their families, they signed their beautiful Ketubah featuring the tree of life inside of their home as their guests began to arrive for their Chester Springs wedding ceremony. And what a ceremony it was! Their front yard was decorated with autumn flowers, pumpkins, and bales of hay.
Sara & Alix’s wedding ceremony was beautiful. Their rabbi shared stories of how Sara & Alix met on J-date back in the days when Sara was a dread-lock wearing, peace corps vegan and how her passions slowly infiltrated Alix’s day to day life. Together they are each stronger and more compassionate than they are separately. For these two big-hearted individuals, that is a true accomplishment.
As the sun set over their home in Chester Springs wedding guests began to move towards the beautifully lighted tent. The reception was rocking from the moment Sara & Alix entered. The team at Events by Brittney Marie had everything perfectly set up from the band to the delicious, chocolatey vegan cake! Ryan Tennis & the Clubhouse Band were killing it on stage, playing everything from original songs to a Tom Petty tribute set that had the dance floor packed.
What a gorgeous wedding!
